There were 40,000 ground-based shooting effects and 264 firing locations across the Sydney Harbour Bridge up from 184 last year, with four aerial pyrotechnic platforms introduced as additional firing locations between the Bridge and Sydney Opera House, according to organizers.

For the first time, fireworks were launched from 80 new positions on the western side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Fireworks were also launched from the Sydney Opera House, barges and five city building rooftops.

The display used almost 10 tons of fireworks and more than one million people were expected to attend, according to organizers.
