A city of Metropolis flag is flying high in front of the Cincinnati Museum Center on Thursday, day two of filming for the new “Superman” movie.

After speculation about whether the new “Superman” film really is shooting in Cincinnati, film crews began setting up at the Cincinnati Museum Center Wednesday.

The yellow and blue flag has a visible “Metropolis” logo in reference to the fictional city made famous by DC Comics.

David Corenswet, the actor cast to portray the Man of Steel, was spotted in costume while filming in Cleveland last month. There, photos circulated online of the same Metropolis flag raised beside what appears to the colonial-blue Delaware flag, the Delaware News Journal reported.

On June 26, the Delaware Reddit page featured a post by redditor vtrip22 of the two flags.

The redditor’s caption read: “Set photos reveal that Metropolis will be set in Delaware, in the comics Metropolis was set in Delaware.” He said the pictures were shot in Cleveland.

Day one of “Superman” filming at Cincinnati Museum Center

On Wednesday morning, crews were setting up outside of the Museum Center and signs that read “to set” were posted around the building. There were also trucks with S&K Pictures, Inc. labels on the side. S&K Pictures shares an address with Warner Bros., which is producing the movie.

An Enquirer reporter also spotted various trailers, what appeared to be light fixtures and a costume tent.

Union Terminal has a close connection to Superman. It was the inspiration behind the Hall of Justice, the hero headquarters of the Justice League. The close resemblance debuted in the “Super Friends” animated series, as Cincinnati-based Taft Broadcasting owned the show’s production company, Hanna-Barbera.

Lytle Tunnel closed Thursday for filming

A portion of the Lytle Tunnel will also close Thursday for filming.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said last week that the southbound lanes of Interstate 71 will close at the tunnel from 4-6 p.m. Closures will last for up to 15 minutes at any time. The frequency of the closures may vary, but according to a traffic advisory, only two 15-minute closures are anticipated during the two-hour time span.

“Superman” is scheduled to release in July 2025.
