The Seattle Seahawks and safety Julian Love have agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $36 million, league sources confirmed Wednesday.

Love, 26, was a Pro Bowl selection last season after starting 12 of 17 games while tallying 123 combined tackles.

The New York Giants selected Love in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed with the Seahawks last year on a two-year, $12 million deal. Love came to Seattle in the spring of 2023 as a third safety behind Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams.

One year later, Love not only climbed the depth chart but is now the team’s top player in the safety room. He led the team with a career-high four interceptions last season, one of which sealed a big victory over the Philadelphia Eagles late in the year on “Monday Night Football.”

A converted cornerback who has played all over the secondary both with the Giants and Seahawks, Love fits the bill for what Seattle is looking for in terms of versatility in the defensive back room. He had just one year remaining on his deal, so it makes sense Seattle locked him up long-term before he could price himself out with another big season.

This will be updated.
