REIWA’s CEO Cath Hart has announced the return of their annual Christmas Appeal in partnership with The Salvation Army.

The Announcement:

REIWA is proud to support The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal once again, with more Western Australians reaching out for help this festive season.

From Monday 4 November to Friday 29 November, 46 REIWA member agencies across the state will be accepting public donations of non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped gifts.

REIWA House at 215 Hay Street, Subiaco, will also serve as a collection point.

“REIWA’s ongoing commitment to the Christmas Appeal is part of our long-standing support for the Salvos through our philanthropic Community REInvest program,” Ms Hart said.

“While Christmas is a time of joy for many, the festive season can be especially challenging for those in our community experiencing hardship or struggling with cost of living pressures.

“The Salvation Army has experienced a strong increase in demand for their services over this year which is expected to increase as we head into Christmas.”

The Salvation Army spokesperson Warren Palmer said the Christmas Appeal was even more vitally important this year.

“The Christmas Appeal aims to provide support for WA families experiencing food and financial insecurity,” Mr Palmer said.

“We want to ensure that the spirit of Christmas can still visit those families and individuals, and our goal is to meet the needs of everyone who turns to us for help.

“Our hope of achieving this rests with the support of those who can give, and REIWA’s Community REInvest partners are crucial in helping us make homes a ‘hub of hope’ this Christmas.”

Ms Hart said the Christmas Appeal was a special campaign on REIWA’s Community REInvest calendar.

“Over the past decade, REIWA members have been proud to support vulnerable members of the community throughout the year with our Community REInvest program,” she said.

“REIWA members will also take part in the Salvos’ Christmas Cheer week – helping sort and display donations and then guiding people through choosing gifts for Christmas.”
