Rachel Platten penned a message to fans who are struggling with accepting themselves.
“Note to self – and anyone else who needs it,” Platten, 43, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, October 20. “I am not less worthy of love just because I can’t seem to lose those last 5 or 10 pounds of ‘baby weight.’ I’ve tried it ALL and my body is begging for my acceptance.”
She continued, “I am stronger than ever, I am so healthy, I can dance and lift weight and carry my girls and move and live a full beautiful life and am honestly sick of trying to keep shrinking myself back to pre-baby weight. F— it.”
The “Fight Song” singer noted that she’s “not waiting to approve of myself” when she’s “thinner.” She added, “I’m gonna give away those jeans I’ve been waiting to fit into again and just buy some bigger ones and love what I’m working with.”
Platten concluded with a message for her fans, encouraging them to share their stories. “If you’re with me, tell me in the comments below because I know I’m not alone in this,” she wrote.
Platten captioned her upload, “Can’t we just love ourselves as we are?! Enough of this already. Give me a 💪🏽 if you’re with me.”
Several users were quick to support Platten in the comments section of her upload. “Don’t focus on weight loss, we as women need to focus on being strong, as every body is different and you need to ensure that you fuel the body [with] what it needs 💪❤️🫶,” one user wrote, while another added, “You’re totally loved, Rachel!!!! ❤️❤️❤️.”
Platten shares daughters Violet, 5, and Sophie, 3, with Kevin Lazan. After welcoming her second child in September 2021, Platten gushed over her and Lazan’s family while sharing images of her snuggling with the newborn in bed.
“Introducing Sophie Jo Lazan. Born … at home in a water birth after 2.5 grueling days of labor,” Platten wrote via Instagram at the time. “When I thought I couldn’t take anymore, this amazing, wise little one kept whispering to me ‘we can do this mama, we can do this.’ So I kept going one contraction at a time. I feel like a warrior and I will NEVER doubt my strength again. Thank you Sophie for showing me what I am made of and for completing our family.”
One month later, Platten opened up about dealing with “postpartum anxiety again.”
“This [is a] daily mental rollercoaster that I’m on. A wave of irrational worry or fear or depression comes and it can knock me over if i don’t use all of my tools: compassion for myself is the biggest,” she told her Instagram followers in October 2021. “But It also takes breath work, meditation, exercise, acupuncture medication (oh we’ll talk about this one later!!), therapy, tremendous support and vulnerability and courage to ride these waves.”
