The Trump administration’s “Promises Made, Promises Kept” tally is about to tick up by one with the imminent release of the JFK files, something the president has long promised the American public he would do as a show of extreme government transparency. And he picked the perfect place to make the announcement: the foyer of the Kennedy Center.

Trump, who recently appointed himself the chairman of the center’s board of trustees, was touring the Kennedy Center on Monday afternoon when he stopped to talk to the media, first noting that the building was in some disrepair before announcing the release of the much-awaited files.

So, we’re at the Kennedy Center. It needs a lot of work. We’re going to fix it, make it beautiful. It’s a very big part of the fabric of DC and the capital. We’re bringing back the capital, we’re bringing back the country.

But, while we’re here, I thought it’d be appropriate — we are, tomorrow, announcing and giving all of the Kennedy files. People have been waiting decades for this, and I’ve instructed my people that are responsible, lots of different people, and put together by Tulsi Gabbard — and that’s going to be tommorrow.

We’ve got a tremendous amount of paper — you’ve got a lot of reading [to do]. I don’t believe we’re going to retract anything. I said, “Just don’t redact. You can’t redact.”

After consulting with his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, President Trump confirmed that the files would be released on Tuesday afternoon, thus fulfilling a campaign promise. He noted that the complete files are expected to run approximately 80,000 pages.

The president had teased the coming release of the files during a recent interview with investigative journalist Sharyl Atkisson, as RedState’s Nick Arama previously reported, with the president addressing the issue of both the JFK and the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Trump responded:

Well, Pam Bondi’s done a phenomenal job in every respect. And there could have been some holdback. I haven’t heard too much about it, but they could. But the bottom line is the records are getting out. The Kennedy records are getting out. Those are the ones they really wanted to see the most were the Kennedy’s.

And during my administration, as you know, I released a lot of ’em. But then a lot of people started coming in. People that I respected, people that worked for the administration asked me not to release the rest.

He said he respected that request. But he said, “I probably wish I did release the whole thing.” He said he had no idea what was in there, but they had found “2,000 more documents on Kennedy.” He said he anticipated that those files could be released “within weeks.”

During his remarks at the Kennedy Center, President Trump revealed that he had not read all of the files himself, but was well aware of the keen interest of the American public, who have spent decades wondering what, if anything, the government has been hiding about the Kennedy assassination.

The release of the long-awaited JFK files will hopefully close the book on that historic event, but another set of documents still looms large: the Epstein files. With the president previously hinting that more revelations could be on the way, the question now is: will the same transparency be applied to fully exposing the misdeeds of the miscreant, Epstein, and his famous cronies?

Thanks to President Trump, we are finally getting some answers to the burning questions long held by the American people.
