Real estate group Professionals has reached a significant philanthropic milestone, donating $4.5 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation over 20 years.
The Announcement:
Professionals Real Estate this month marks an extraordinary 20-year corporate philanthropic partnership that has delivered $4.5 million to support life-saving research by the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
The financial support has contributed to funding world-class advancements in diagnoses and treatment that has resulted in the death rate from breast cancer falling by 27 per cent in Australia in the past 20 years.
A portion of every property sold across the Professionals network of 170 offices is donated to NBCF, complemented by an extensive calendar of corporate and community fundraising events at both national and local levels.
Professionals Chief Executive Officer Katherine Gonzalez-Cork made the announcement at the Professionals City to Surf office in Beenleigh that has turned pink in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Ms Gonzalez-Cork said Professionals was extremely proud to be the first Diamond Corporate Partner of NBCF – a two-decade long commitment that has supported dozens of world-class research projects.
“This research is making a real difference in the lives of women and supports NBCF’s ambitious vision of achieving zero deaths from breast cancer in Australia,” she said.
“Our philanthropic program at Professionals is actively supporting the one in seven women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime so they no longer need to feat their diagnosis will result in death.
“The entire Professionals network remains absolutely committed to continuing to support NBCFs’ vital research and it is a cause embedded in Professionals values and culture.”
Chief Executive Officer of NBCF, Associate Professor Cleola Anderiesz, said Professionals’ 20-year support was an extraordinary effort from a single organisation.
“Professionals is an exemplar of the power of a corporate network uniting in one goal to drive an outstanding philanthropic impact,” Associate Professor Anderiesz said.
“Professionals has directly contributed to the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s 30-year history of funding world-class research, including 19 grants announced this year.
“These new projects focus on understanding the genetic drivers of breast cancer in young women, technology to improve screening, understanding how cancer cells survive and spread, and exploring better treatment options for aggressive forms of breast cancer.”
“The leadership team at Professionals take their social and corporate responsibilities within the community very seriously and the cumulative impact of their philanthropy is not only changing lives, but also saving lives.”
