After an active 2024 hurricane season, Southwest Floridians were relieved when it ended and dry season set in.

It hasn’t rained much for a while in the Naples area.

That’s expected to change Monday. Prepare for some waves of rain in Naples and Collier County.

The National Weather Service predicts showers before 10 a.m., with showers continuing and thunderstorms possible after 10.

“Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall,” NWS said on its website.

How much rain is expected in Naples, Collier County, Florida on Monday, Feb. 24?

The weather service seems confident it is going to rain. Its web site said Sunday evening that the chance of precipitation is 80% for the Naples area. The chance of rain continues at 70% Monday night.

Rainfall amounts between 3/4 and 1 inch are possible Monday, the weather service predicted; 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of rain could fall Monday night.

Accuweather’s forecast showed the rain beginning Monday morning, around 7 a.m.

Will low pressure system impact Naples, Collier County, bring localized flooding?

The weather service’s Miami office said Sunday that an area of low pressure will be moving over Florida. It said:

“Model trends are coming into some agreement in regards to the system`s track, keeping its bulk over the southernmost portions of the peninsula and over the Keys.

“This solution favors lower rainfall totals for South Florida and lower chances for thunderstorms overall as much of the instability looks to remain over the Keys.”

The agency said that thunderstorms and rain chances could increase though:

“Given the disorganized nature of the low, there remains a low chance that the convection could push further north over our region, which would mean higher chances for thunderstorms and a more widespread rainfall event.”

With 1 to 2 inches predicted, some areas could expect localized flooding.
