There are Democrat Senators who are the gifts that keep on giving, and that was certainly the case Tuesday as President-Elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense nominee, Pete Hegseth, entered into the lion’s den better known as the Senate Armed Services Committee for his confirmation hearing.
As we reported, sparks flew early on between Hegseth and Democrat committee members like Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), who imploded while giving her statement on the allegedly “brutal” and “mean” nature of comments previously made by Hegseth on how, in his view, women should not serve in frontline combat roles, and how DEI/woke “standards” for recruitment and promotion make the military weak and a laughing stock to other nations, not stronger and viewed with respect.
Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) also did not do themselves any favors, accusing Hegseth without evidence of allegedly not being knowledgeable nor qualified enough to serve in the Defense Secretary role even as they had to read prepared remarks and questions from a script written by their handlers.

Not to be outdone, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who like Gillibrand is another failed 2020 Democrat presidential candidate, went after Hegseth on the issue of generals – in her view – needing to be banned from working in the defense industry for at least a decade after they’ve retired from service.
Here’s how the exchange went down. Note at the end how Hegseth pointed out something that should have been obvious to Warren but wasn’t:
Warren: But the question I have for you on this is: Will you put your money where your mouth is and agree that when you leave this job, you will not work for the defense industry for 10 years?
Hegseth: Senator, it’s not even a question I’ve thought about. Because it’s not one that–
Warren: Think about it right now.
Hegseth: It’s not one… my motivation for this job–
Warren: I understand that, I just need a yes or no here. Time is short. I just need a yes or no.
Hegseth: I would consult with the president about what the policy is.
Warren: In other words, you’re quite sure that every general who serves should not go directly into the defense industry for 10 years, but you’re not willing to make that same pledge?
Hegseth: I’m not a general, Senator.
Hegseth’s statement sparked chuckles from some at the hearing and momentarily stunned Warren before she briefly continued with her line of questioning.

Any day that the Native-American-culture-appropriating Senator is owned by her political opponents is a good day, and Tuesday – much to our delight – was one of those days.
