Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli.

The 23-year-old winger has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal that will see him stay at the French club until the summer of 2029.

Upon joining the club, the Georgia international said: “It’s a dream to be here. I’ve heard a lot of very positive things about Paris Saint-Germain. I feel immense pride in joining this great club and I’m really looking forward to wearing my new colours.”

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “We are delighted to welcome Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the Paris Saint-Germain family. Khvicha is one of the most exciting players in world football – a fantastic talent, but also a player who has courage and fights for the team above all else.

“Khvicha was so determined to be part of our great club. I know he will achieve all his goals with us.”

On Saturday, Napoli head coach Antonio Conte said the 23-year-old had “asked the club to be sold” and the winger posted a video to his social media on Thursday in which he said it was “time to say goodbye” to the Italian club.

“The player has confirmed his decision to me. Personally I’m very disappointed,” said Conte. “The news came like a bolt from the blue. I’m now taking a step back and it’s right that the club and Kvara’s entourage resolve this situation.”

The Georgian forward was a key part of the Napoli side that won Italy’s top flight in 2022-23, registering 25 goal contributions in 34 appearances as the club won the Scudetto for only the third time in their history.

The Athletic previously reported Liverpool could consider a move to sign Kvaratskhelia in the event he is allowed to leave Napoli during this transfer window but there is likely to be stiff competition for his services.

Liverpool had not actively been pursuing a player of Kvaratskhelia’s profile, but he is a talent they admire and had been keeping tabs on should he become a market opportunity.

With two years remaining on Kvaratskhelia’s current deal, Napoli will be in no rush to lose a player who has provided 11 goals and eights assists for the club last season and would only consider a sale for a significant fee.

Kvaratskhelia has become one of the most highly-rated attackers in Europe since joining Napoli from Georgian side Dinamo Batumi in 2022, scoring 30 goals and registering 29 assists in all competitions since then.

In 2024, he was the leading light for the Georgia side that reached the last 16 of the European Championship in the country’s first appearance at a major international tournament before their elimination at the hands of eventual champions Spain.

Kvaratskhelia has scored five times and assisted three goals in Serie A this season. Napoli are currently top of the league standings with 47 points from 20 games.
