It’s hard to choose just one highlight from Saturday. But Katie Ledecky accomplished something only one other woman has in Olympic history by winning her ninth gold medal.
Ledecky tied Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina for the most gold medals by a female Olympian by winning the 800-meter freestyle for the fourth consecutive Games, outdueling Australian rival Ariarne Titmus.
Honorable mention goes to Julien Alfred, who took the crown as the world’s fastest woman in the 100 meters, capturing the first Olympic medal in Saint Lucia’s history. And to Simone Biles, who made it three golds in Paris and seven all time.
