We are, of course, all mindful of the upcoming election, which is largely focused – like all presidential elections – on economic issues. That’s understandable. People tend to vote in their financial interests, and 2024 is no exception. But immigration, in particular illegal immigration, is also a hot issue. Why? Not only are the borders wide open, not only are there 11 million (minimum – probably more) people at present illegally present in the United States, but there are criminal elements among these illegal immigrants, and ill-advised “sanctuary” jurisdictions are making matters worse.
Case in point: An illegal alien from Guatemala, Maynor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas, is under arrest. The charges? Aggravated rape of a child and rape of a child with force.
Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston apprehended an unlawfully present 38-year-old Guatemalan national charged with forcibly raping a Massachusetts minor. Officers with ERO Boston arrested Maynor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas Sept. 20 in Lowell.
“Maynor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas stands accused of horrific crimes against a Massachusetts child,” said ERO Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde. “He represents a significant danger to the children of our community that we will not tolerate. ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing egregious noncitizen threats from our New England neighborhoods.”
Hernandez unlawfully entered the United States on an unknown date, at an unknown location and without inspection, admission or parole by a U.S. immigration official.
You read that right: Hernandez is in the country illegally; nobody knows how he got in (“unknown date, at an unknown location”), and he faced no inspection or even an interview. Nobody knows who this guy is – but now we know what he’s capable of.

It gets worse:
The Bridgeport, Connecticut, District Court convicted Hernandez Sept. 16, 2011, for the offense of breach of peace. The court sentenced him to six months in prison followed by a six-month suspended sentence and one year of probation.
The Norwalk, Connecticut, District Court convicted Hernandez May 15, 2016, for the offense of breach of peace and issued him a $100 fine.
The Lowell Police Department arrested Hernandez June 14, 2024, for aggravated rape of a child and rape of a child with force.
ERO Boston lodged an immigration detainer against Hernandez with the MCHOC June 28.
The Middlesex Superior Court arraigned Hernandez Sept. 4 for aggravated rape of a child with force and rape of a child by force.
The Middlesex Superior Court ignored ERO Boston’s immigration detainer and released Hernandez from custody on an unknown date.
So, he served a six-month sentence for a 2011 conviction for breach of peace but was not deported.
He was convicted five years later, again of breach of peace, was hit with a $100 fine, but was not deported.
Finally, in 2024, he was arrested in Lowell for the horrendous charges noted above: Aggravated rape of a child and rape of a child with force. That was on June 14th. On June 28th, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston filed an immigration detainer. Hernandez was arraigned on September 4th on those charges. The Middlesex Superior Court, after that, ignored the immigration detainer and put Hernandez back on the street.
Now, of course, ERO Boston has finally caught up with Hernandez and, as of September 20th, he is back where he belongs, in the hoosegow.
Fox News’ Bill Melugin has taken to X with a summary:
NEW: ICE Boston says a Guatemalan illegal alien who entered the U.S. as a gotaway & was charged in June w/ aggravated forcible rape of a Massachusetts child was shielded by sanctuary policies in Middlesex County, MA, which ignored ICE’s detainer & released him into the community…

From Bill Melugin’s post:
ICE Boston says a Guatemalan illegal alien who entered the U.S. as a gotaway & was charged in June w/ aggravated forcible rape of a Massachusetts child was shielded by sanctuary policies in Middlesex County, MA, which ignored ICE’s detainer & released him into the community without notice. ICE Boston was able to track him down and arrest him in Lowell, MA, once again having to expend limited ICE resources and risk officer safety to conduct an operation in the field when he could have been safely handed over at the county jail or court. In this case, ICE says it was the Middlesex Superior Court that ignored their detainer request – not the jail.
How many more incidents will it take before American politicians start taking the border crisis seriously? Democrats in particular are lightning-quick to shout “RACIST!” at anyone who dares question the practice of letting millions of unknown, unscreened people swarm into the country. But there is nothing racist about wanting our republic to have secure borders. There is nothing racist about wanting the people we choose to let in to undergo some screening process. And there is nothing racist about wanting people who come here illegally to be deported – especially if they commit further crimes after the initial crime of entering the country illegally.
Less than a month to go, all – early and mail-in voting is already underway. One party in this race would have deported Maynor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas after his first offense. The other would have let him remain and brought in thousands more like him. This is a choice that’s really no choice at all.
