Nottingham Forest have confirmed that striker Chris Wood has signed a new contract through until the summer of 2027.
Wood, 33, was due to be out of contract at the end of this season, which is on track to be his most prolific at Premier League level. The New Zealand international has scored 14 goals in 21 league games for Forest this term, matching his tallies from last season with the City Ground club and his 2019-20 campaign with Burnley.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that Wood was close to finalising his contract extension at Forest.
Wood has attracted interest from clubs in MLS and Saudi Arabia but is happy in Nottingham and has chosen to join team-mate Murillo in extending his contract with Forest. The 22-year-old Brazilian signed a new deal until 2029 earlier this week. Full-back Ola Aina, meanwhile, is also in advanced talks over fresh terms as his contract enters its final six months.
“I saw the ambition at the club when I first arrived,” Wood said upon extending his contract, praising the “ambition” of owner Evangelos Marinakis and adding that the club has “a lot of potential to continue to grow and build.”
Wood joined Forest from Newcastle United in January 2023 on an initial loan deal before the move became permanent a month later. He has scored 29 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions for Forest.

Wood’s goals have helped Forest to third in the Premier League table after 21 matches. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are also keen to bolster their forward line and have already bid for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
