Kamala Harris keeps trying to run away from her abysmal performance as the Biden administration’s border czar, but facts are stubborn things. Take, for instance, the fact that 30% of the cameras that are part of the Customs and Border Patrol’s (CBP) Remote Video Surveillance System are broken. In other words, significant portions of the southern border are invisible to CBP agents, resulting in untold numbers of “gotaways” disappearing into the United States without being vetted or tracked.
This information comes straight from an internal CBP memo, so it can’t be dismissed as simply campaign fodder or ginned-up controversy. NBC News got their hands on the memo, which was distributed earlier in October “to a sector of agents along the southern border.” Per NBC News, 150 of 500 cameras monitoring the southern border are inoperable:
“The nationwide issue is having significant impacts on [Border Patrol] operations,” reads a Border Patrol memo sent to a sector of agents along the southern border and obtained by NBC News
The large-scale outage affects roughly 150 of the 500 cameras perched on surveillance towers along the U.S.-Mexico border. It was due to “several technical problems,” according to the memo. The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive issue, blamed outdated equipment and outstanding repair issues.
It seems that no one is quite sure how long these cameras have been down, and CBP officials confirm that there are areas of the U.S.-Mexico border that currently cannot be monitored: “Two Customs and Border Protections officials said that some repairs have been made this month but that there are still over 150 outstanding requests for camera repairs. The officials said there are some areas that are not visible to Border Patrol because of broken cameras.”
This only confirmed the suspicions of Republicans like Dr. Roger Marshall, the junior senator from Kansas, who recalled Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s testimony from April in which Mayorkas could not answer questions about the operability of technology on the border.
🚨🚨 In April, Sec. Mayorkas admitted under oath that he could not confirm if his technology was operational. Today, it was revealed 30% of cameras are NOT functioning at the border, leading to major impacts on CBP’s operations.

The fact is, this administration hasn’t known who is coming into our country for a LONG time. We have NO IDEA how many unvetted gotaways are in our country- and Border Czar Kamala Harris wants the American people to give her a promotion? No shot.
This story has flown mostly under the media radar, but administration officials, not to mention all Americans, should be deeply concerned that our porous border has even more holes than originally thought. And there are real consequences to allowing so many illegals to waltz brazenly into the U.S. unchecked, such as Venezuelan gangs taking over portions of American cities and turning them into violent hellholes.
If the media at large would bother to report the story, it would be yet another catastrophe for Kamala Harris’s presidential aspirations. It, at the very least, speaks to her inability to lead and refusal to protect American citizens, and it’s something that voters should know.
Those who are interested in protecting American citizens from the invading hordes, namely the CBP agents themselves, have found an ally in Donald Trump. As RedState’s Bob Hoge reported:
“[T]he National Border Patrol Council announced Sunday at a campaign rally in Prescott, Arizona, that they were throwing their support behind Donald Trump.”
Union president Paul Perez summed it up this way: “If we allow Border Czar Harris to win this election, every city, every community in this great country, is going to go to hell. The untold millions of people, unvetted, who she has allowed into this country that are committing murders, rapes, robberies, burglaries, and every other crime will continue to put our country in peril.”
