A new Premier League season means the return of Pod on the Tyne.

The Athletic’s much-loved dedicated Newcastle United podcast is back to leave no stone unturned on Tyneside.

George Caulkin, Chris Waugh and Taylor Payne, with a sprinkling of Jacob Whitehead, will bring you all the thrills and spills as Eddie Howe’s men endeavour to make an immediate return to European action.

“I was in Tokyo earlier this month for Newcastle’s pre-season tour and specifically at the launch of the club’s new third strip,” says George.

“A couple of fans who had traveled from Australia to take in two friendly matches – involving a negligible flight of nine hours or so – came over to say hello and talk about Pod on the Tyne. This absolutely blows my mind. Sometimes I forget that people might actually listen to us.

“Trips like that are a lovely reminder about Newcastle’s power and appeal and potential and a chance to meet people who have stumbled upon this incredible, maddening, beautiful club and become part of us in the process. It also reminds me of our connection.

“If the pod works I hope it’s because Taylor, Chris, Jacob, Ollie [the show’s producer] and I feel everything, good or bad. We try to inform and entertain but a lot of the time, it’s just therapy.”

The guys would love to hear from you this season, and you can get in touch with the show by emailing and sending voice notes to podonthetyne@theathletic.com

You can follow the show on X too at @PodontheTyne.

As always, you can listen to the show for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and in all the other usual places by clicking here. We hope you enjoy the coverage.
