Republican Governor Joe Lombardo, formerly the Sheriff of Clark County, posted on X that he was coordinating with local law enforcement in response to this event.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department posted on X:

We are investigating a vehicle fire at the entrance to Trump Towers. The fire is out. Please avoid the area.Event: LLV250100001562

Governor Lombardo re-posted LVMPD’s Message and wrote:

My office is coordinating with @LVMPD and partner agencies on this incident response, and we will continue to ensure they have all necessary resources available.

The Clark County Fire Department reported receiving a call around 8:40 a.m. PST Wednesday about a vehicle fire in the valet area outside the Trump Hotel on Fashion Show Drive, a department spokesperson told Huff Post.

Police confirmed the fire was extinguished within two hours and advised the public to avoid the area.

Videos posted online captured thick smoke billowing in front of the hotel. Witnesses described hearing a loud noise, with one saying it sounded like “a dumpster being dropped and dragged for several seconds.” Another video showed people evacuating the building through a rear exit.

The latest reports indicate the driver of the vehicle was killed and several others were injured. Earlier footage circulating online showed emergency responders on-site, including multiple police vehicles and at least two ambulances.

According to Huff Post, while older Tesla models, such as the Model S, were once known to catch fire under specific conditions, it’s unlikely the Cybertruck, which has been recalled several times since its debut in late 2023, has a similar defect.

Earlier on Wednesday, Eric Trump posted on social media about the event, writing:

Earlier today, a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response and professionalism. @TrumpLasVegas

This is a developing story RedState will continue to monitor.
