Democrat New York Governor Kathy Hochul called a press conference on Thursday afternoon, to announce whether or not she will remove fellow Dem and NYC Mayor Eric Adams from office

It comes a day after the U.S. District Court judge who is overseeing the criminal corruption and bribery case against Adams, after a 90-minute meeting with both the acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove and the mayor’s attorney, Alex Spiro, chose not to make a new ruling for now.

As I wrote, the meeting with Judge Dale E. Ho and the attorneys came in the wake of seven attorneys with the office of the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York resigning, along with acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove filing with the court to dismiss the case against Mayor Adams.

Also on Wednesday, President Donald Trump ordered the end of congestion pricing in the Empire state, causing liberal heads to explode, including that of Gov. Hochul.

Now, Hochul has admitted partial defeat over Mayor Adams’ decision to follow the law and aide the new administration in implementing its immigration policy–including repatriating criminal illegal aliens, saying that while she will not remove Adams as New York City’s duly elected mayor, that’s not the end of the conversation.

Here’s what happened in the presser on Thursday:

Hochul said she was “deeply troubled” by the accusations against Adams, but said on Thursday that she would not commence removal proceedings for now.

She continued

“My strong belief is that the will of the voters and the supremacy and sanctity of democratic elections preclude me from any action. I cannot deny the people of this great city the power to make this decision for themselves.”

And what’s her plan going forward? Hochul is going to propose that the state legislature and city council “create a new state inspector general overseeing New York City and empowering other city elected officials to sue the federal government if the mayor declines to do so.”

In other words, Democrats who are dead set against fixing the immigration crisis, and reject the American people’s choice in last November’s election, will try to put Mayor Adams on a leash–possibly in an attempt to pressure him to resign

But Adams does not sound like he’s willing to be cowed. He stated on Wednesday, after the court hearing, that that’s not about to happen: “I will never surrender, never step down. I’m going to step up and fight.”

We’ll keep you posted.
