If someone only followed the mainstream press, they would likely have no idea how bad Joe Biden’s recent appearance at a White House Juneteenth event was. Because it occurred before the debate that changed everything, only conservative outlets bothered to report on the president’s awkward and disturbing night, from how he looked in the audience to the incoherence of his speech.

Here was one of the clips that had everyone talking along with what I wrote about it at the time.

There’s a lot I could point out about this. For example, the fact that Biden’s arms are atrophied by his side as he attempts to manufacture some form of emotion without actually moving. And yeah, that’s a guy in a sequin dress sitting three chairs down from him because, of course, it is. There’s even an extremely awkward fist bump in which Biden appears to blank out for a moment.

Then there was the president’s speech. That went about as well as all the other speeches he’s given over the last few years.

At the time, it wasn’t safe for the press to report any of that. To do so would be helping Republicans, and the “cheap fakes” narrative was just starting to gear up. Post-debate, though, that dynamic has changed, with the press seeing Biden as a clear and present danger to Democrat chances in November. They want him gone yesterday, and the knives are out.

So just how bad was that Juneteenth performance? While my breakdown of the night relied on reasonable observations from afar, attendees of the event are now speaking out, and things just got that much worse for Biden. One Democrat, who was named in the article, suggested Biden was drugged.

No, I’m not kidding.

But some who attended a concert at the White House just weeks before say that Biden’s debate performance only “confirmed” the exact opposite for them.

Multiple people who attended an event celebrating Juneteenth at the White House last month — just 17 days before the debate — told ABC News in interviews that they had concerns about President Biden after personally watching him at that event, and they say others they spoke with who were also in attendance did as well.

“We didn’t know quite what to make of it, but we thought that it was different and that it was — he seemed altered,” said state Rep. Ron Reynolds, a Democrat from Texas, in an interview with ABC News.

It wasn’t just Reynolds, though. Multiple other people told ABC News that something was very off with the president.

Together, the individuals ABC News spoke with — which include state lawmakers and a former Obama White House official — described Biden at the event as “aloof” and “stiff” and his speech as “garbled.” One lawmaker said her assessment of the president at the event came after she had privately raised concerns to White House staffers months before — jokingly saying they could keep the president “stitched together” until the election.

Better late than never, I suppose, when it comes to the press finally reporting on this stuff. It should never be forgotten that it was those of us in conservative media who told people the truth, though. Rest assured, the moment it’s convenient, the mainstream press will go right back to protecting Democrats, including any possible replacement for Biden. This is all calculated. They smell blood in the water and believe Trump will win if Biden stays in. That’s the only reason they are suddenly doing their jobs.

Regardless, it is crazy that we are getting all these reports of just how bad off Biden is. I never would have thought things could get this combative. It’s just unheard of in the modern era for the press to turn on a Democrat like this, no matter the motivation. These are heady times, and I suspect they’ll be getting headier.
