NC State sophomore receiver KC Concepcion, the Wolfpack’s receptions leader in 2024, has announced that he intends to enter the transfer portal, according to On3.

Concepcion, who had a team-high 53 receptions for 460 yards and six touchdowns in 2024, was the ACC’s Rookie of the Year and a Freshman All-American in 2023. As a proven receiver with 24 starts and 774 snaps on passing plays in two seasons, Concepcion figures to be one of the most sought-after players in the portal.

In his two seasons at NC State, Concepcion caught 125 balls for 1,305 yards and 16 touchdowns. He worked primarily as a slot receiver, taking 87.2 percent of his passing play snaps from the slot.

Concepcion, listed at 5 feet 11 and 189 pounds, was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class from Charlotte, N.C., who significantly outperformed his recruiting ranking upon arriving at NC State. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

What is Concepcion’s value?

Despite his drop-off in production as a sophomore, Concepcion is still a valuable asset as a crisp route runner and reliable target on short to intermediate pass routes. His ability to shed tacklers and create yards after contact will make him a highly sought-after slot receiver.

Concepcion produced 265 yards after contact (5 yards per catch), according to Pro Football Focus, despite being credited with only seven missed tackles forced as a sophomore. He had 527 yards after contact and forced 20 missed tackles as a freshman. Concepcion was targeted 88 times as a sophomore. He had seven drops. He was targeted 105 times as a freshman and had five drops. — Navarro
