The House was holding a hearing on Thursday on the Trump assassination attempts. They were questioning acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe.
Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX) was questioning Rowe about the coverage, and he ripped Rowe for waiting days before going to Butler, Pennsylvania, after the first Trump assassination attempt occurred there in July.
Fallon then raised the coverage of President-elect Donald Trump and other protectees on 9/11 at Ground Zero in New York City during the 2024 commemoration ceremonies. Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and JD Vance were all there. Fallon asked Rowe if he was the SAC (Special Agent in Charge) that day. That’s when things went off the rails. Rowe started flipping out, claiming Fallon was politicizing 9/11, which he certainly wasn’t.

Fallon was having none of that and went right back at him, saying, “Don’t try to bully me!”
“You know why you were there, because you wanted to be visible, because you are auditioning for this job that you’re not [going] to get,” he yelled during their confrontation, accusing him of endangering lives.
“You are out of line, congressman. Way out of line,” Rowe screamed. “I am a public servant who has served this nation and spent time on our country’s darkest day.”
Fallon claimed Rowe wasn’t answering the questions and had agents “out of position.” He said he was asking “serious questions” on behalf of the American people.
Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s look at the end was funny, like he couldn’t believe what just went down.

I don’t know about the factual questions regarding the coverage of the 9/11 ceremony, but it’s certainly valid to ask questions about it, and you can’t avoid that by suggesting doing so is somehow “politicizing” the day.
Bottom line? The Secret Service failed miserably at their job in Butler, and Corey Comperatore died because of it. Two other men were seriously injured, and Trump was shot in the ear. Then, there was a second attempt in September at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where one agent miraculously spotted the alleged suspect. But how was he even allowed to be there, lying in wait, to begin with? How could they have let anyone get that angle on Trump from the roof in the Butler attempt? It’s only by the grace of God and fortune that he turned his head to look at a graph that he’s alive today. And we still have no real answers about that shooter, Thomas Crooks.
Rowe said he’d implemented reforms including increasing the number of agents on Trump’s detail to provide him more protection. But quite frankly, I wouldn’t trust that until they get a new director in there to do a real review and overhaul.
