MSNBC Continues to Crash and Burn, With No Idea What to Do

MSNBC has a problem. They are out of a certain medication known to have positive effects on people who are suffering from a severe lack of self-awareness. That medicine is known as “Copium,” and the various talking heads and droids at MSBNC could use a big old dose.

Seriously, they’ve lost half their audience since the election, and they don’t seem to know what to do about it.

MSNBC’s audience has tanked since the election.

The liberal network’s viewership is down by 47 percent overall since Nov. 5 and by 52 percent during primetime, the latest Nielsen ratings show.

Morning Joe’s numbers had already fallen by 38 percent after hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski flew to Mar-a-Lago to extend an olive branch to president-elect Donald Trump. Other shows have since clocked all-time lows in the key 25 to 54 demographic.

On the other hand, Fox News Channel’s primetime viewership has increased by 24 percent since Trump’s win, as conservatives apparently take a victory lap with the right-wing network.

I don’t know that I would characterize Fox as “right-wing.” “Right of center,” perhaps. But that’s neither here nor there.

Here’s the onion:

One MSNBC fan said he switched off the network the day after the election because he couldn’t stand the Democratic infighting that immediately erupted after Trump’s surprisingly swift victory.

It was way too early to nitpick about Harris and her campaign, he told the paper.

It’s never too early to start analyzing why your side lost an election, especially when the loss was as decisive as this one. But that’s as may be; the Democratic infighting is certainly warranted, but the gist of what’s coming out of this was that Kamala Harris failed in “messaging.”

No. It’s not that her campaign failed to get the message out. It was that there was no message. Not even MSNBC could cover up the gaping hole that was the Harris agenda, or more properly, the lack thereof, and the constant, shallow, transparent harping by the “progressive” media, not to mention the bile and hate spewed out by people like Joy Reid and the other harpies on “The View” no doubt turned a lot of people off.

Now MSNBC’s numbers are showing it.

Now the left is bemoaning, of all things, that they have no Joe Rogan. Joe himself is quick to point out he was originally on their side.

“I’m sure they’re scrambling to try to create their own version of this show,” he said on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. “This is one thing that keeps coming up: ‘We need our own Joe Rogan.’ But they had me. I was on their side.”

The leftist media, inasmuch as it survives after all this, will never allow a Joe Rogan, much as they claim to want one. Why? Because Joe Rogan engages with people. He invites people on his famous podcast for lone, unscripted talks – both Donald Trump and JD Vance spoke with Joe for over three hours each with no scripts, no pre-approved questions, and no teleprompters. He invites people he disagrees with, and he listens to them, and when he responds, he gives well-thought-out replies, not canned talking points.

What’s more, Joe seems personable and pleasant to talk to – you can’t say that about a single host on MSNBC. Not that I’m aware of.

Kamala Harris may have been the left’s primary casualty of the election season just past. But the “progressive” media seems to be taking it on the chin, too. And all I can say is, it’s about time. I won’t criticize them for their bias; I’m an advocate myself, and I make no bones about it. But I will take issue with their mean-spiritedness and their shallowness. That, as much as anything, would seem to be what’s costing them viewers.
