More Leaks Out of Dem Govs' Meeting—and They Are Just Devastating for Biden

Joe Biden met with Democratic governors on Wednesday to reassure them about his fitness for office.

But it’s beginning to look like that was one more miscue because of the things that he said during that meeting that are now leaking out. As I wrote about earlier, Biden claimed that he had been examined by a doctor after the debate because of his “cold.” But the White House contradicted that saying he hadn’t been examined by the doctor. While three governors spoke out supporting him after the meeting, the people whose names have been batted around about possibly replacing Biden were conspicuously absent from those remarks.

Now, there are more leaks.

Maybe if you’re trying to reassure people, you don’t tell them this.

President Biden told a gathering of Democratic governors that he needs to get more sleep and work fewer hours, including curtailing events after 8 p.m., according to two people who participated in the meeting and several others briefed on his comments. [….]

Mr. Biden said that he told his staff he needed to get more sleep, multiple people familiar with what took place in the meeting said. He repeatedly referenced pushing too hard and not listening to his team about his schedule, and said he needed to work fewer hours and avoid events after 8 p.m., according to one of the people familiar with what took place at the meeting.

That was after the reports that he was “dependably engaged” only between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

But how can you possibly say that, knowing the nature of the job — which requires you to be available, in good shape, at all hours? “Yeah, I’m limited” is not reassuring. That shows he’s delusional, right there.

Plus, although he’s been campaigning more his schedule has generally been very light, and he spends almost 40 percent of his time on vacation/taking time off.

How could any of the governors who came out and acted like everything was fine be taken seriously after that?

I think it’s fair to say if people are leaking like this, they’re not really behind him. What they’re really trying to do is show there’s a problem through leaks, but not go on record.

If that wasn’t enough, check out what happened when Governor Josh Green of Hawaii, a doctor, asked Biden about his health:

Biden replied that his health was fine, “It’s just my brain,” he said.

Oh. That’s so reassuring. It’s just his brain, guys, no need to worry.

Now, Biden’s campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillion claimed it was a joke, and said he preceded it with “All kidding aside.”

But at least one governor didn’t take it as a joke and was “puzzled” by the comment. This means that, as with everything Biden does, even if it was a joke, he didn’t tell it well. And of course, the problem is — it is his brain. Joking about it just emphasizes the problem.

When people think your brain is mush, they tend not to vote for you for the highest office in the land.

On top of that, someone also leaked they didn’t feel there was enough discussion about whether he should stay in or step aside:

But the fact that Mr. Biden began the conversation with the governors by declaring that he was continuing on left some participants feeling that any further discussion about the state of play was chilled.

In other words, not everyone was necessarily on board with those statements made by the three governors who came out.

So, if this was to reassure the governors and then the American people, it sounds like they could hardly have done a worse job when you’re hearing all these stories leaking out.
