World-record holders Mondo Duplantis and Karsten Warholm will race over 100m next month.
Duplantis, who set a new high mark on his way to defending his Olympic pole vault title in Paris earlier this month, will face Warholm, the 400m hurdles world-record holder and current Olympic silver medalist in Zurich.
The Norwegian lost his own Olympic title to Rai Benjamin of the United States on Friday.
The meeting has been much trailed since a short video clip of the two discussing racing each other was shared on social media last summer.
The pair will race at the Letzigrund Stadium on Wednesday, September 4 ahead of the Diamond League meeting the following night.
As well as his medals in Tokyo and Paris, Warholm is a three-time world champion, while Duplantis is a double Olympic champion and has broken the pole vault world record on nine different occasions.
Warholm’s personal best over the shortest outdoor sprint has been recorded at 10.49 seconds, a time set in 2017. Duplantis clocked a 10.57 as a high school senior in 2018.
By comparison, Usain Bolt’s world record is 9.58, set in Berlin in 2009. Noah Lyles won Olympic gold in Paris in a time of 9.79.
