Microsoft (MSFT) unveiled its new Majorana 1 quantum chip Wednesday, intensifying the competition in quantum computing.

Yahoo Finance Technology Editor Dan Howley joins Market Domination hosts Seana Smith and Julie Hyman to talk about the chip’s use of qubits, enabling faster calculations.

Just like Google’s (GOOGL, GOOG) own quantum chip called Willow, Majorana allows quantum computing breakthroughs but still requires extremely low temperatures.

While initial timelines suggested practical use in 5–10 years, experts debate whether it will be realized within that range, with predictions varying from 5 to 20 years. The future remains uncertain.
