With under three weeks left in the 2024 Presidential election, things are looking good for Donald Trump. Poll numbers are trending his way, and there are clear signs Democrats are getting scared and desperate.

If Donald Trump gets reelected, conservatives are fairly certain that the left will do what they usually do when they don’t get their way: break stuff, burn things down, and riot. The usual suspects, Alec Baldwin, Robert DeNiro, etc., will announce they are leaving the country, and there will be group therapy screams like we saw in 2016. But could it get even worse? One person thinks so.

Journalist Mark Halperin was recently a guest on “The Tucker Carlson Show.” The two discussed the current state of the race, but when Carlson asked, “Let’s say Trump wins three weeks from today, what happens? As you’ve said, a lot of Democrats, maybe the majority, believe that Trump becoming President again is the worst thing that could happen. So, how do they respond to that?”

Keeping the usual Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) antics in mind, Halperin’s answer was unbelievable, but was it also a warning, a preview of things to come?

“I say this not flippantly. I think it will be the cause of the greatest mental health crisis in the history of the country. I think tens of millions of people will question their connection to the nation, their connection to other human beings, their connection to their vision of what their future for them and their children could be like. I think that it will require an enormous amount of access to mental health professionals. I think it’ll lead to trauma in the workplace. I think there’ll be some degree of protests.”

At this point, Carlson actually stops him to ask, “Are you being serious?” To which Halperin says, “One hundred percent serious.” Halperin was also not done yet with his description of TDS on steroids should a Trump victory occur and the effect it will have on Democrats and the left. “I think there’ll be alcoholism, there’ll be broken marriages.”

He acknowledged that there will most likely be the usual protests, some of them violent. But then he went on to describe things like “workplace fights” and “fights at kids’ birthday parties,” possibly between despondent leftists and their Trump-loving conservative acquaintances.

Halperin delved into the minds of leftists, who are convinced that Donald Trump is going to drag them off to concentration camps. A Trump victory is something so terrible that it is hard for them to comprehend. They are at a loss as to how to explain how it could possibly happen. To them, Trump “is a sign of fundamental evil at the heart of their fellow citizens and of the nation.”

Mark Halperin’s diagnosis of the left is illustrative of a fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives when it comes to the outcome of elections. When conservatives lose, hopefully, we engage in some self-reflection, figure out where we went wrong, and try to fix what can be fixed. It can be debated whether things were “fixed,” but the bottom line is we sigh, admit that the situation sucks, take a deep breath, and live to fight another day. We know we love the country therefore, we will fight for it as best we can while we are not in charge. In the spirit of Andrew Breitbart, we remain “happy warriors.”

When liberals lose, they riot.

Halperin went on to say that he hopes that Donald Trump “handles it well” and “works to minimize the health crisis” if he wins. While it is a good thing that Halperin may be warning conservatives to keep their heads on a swivel, it’s not Trump’s job to minimize the health crises of people who literally think he is the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. Are we at the point where the political violence of the left is considered a mental health crisis and, therefore, justified?

Mark Halperin is right. TDS will get exponentially worse. But it is kind of nice that someone has called it what it really is: a mental health crisis.
