Maria Edwards appointed as REIA Interim CEO

The Real Estate Institute of Australia has named Maria Edwards as Interim CEO, effective 9 September 2024.

The Announcement:

The Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) has announced Maria Edwards as the Interim CEO effective 9 September 2024.

Ms Edwards comes from within the Real Estate Institute family as the current Chief Executive Officer of the Real Estate Institute of the ACT (REIACT).

REIA President, Leanne Pilkington said that the Board of REIA was delighted to welcome Ms Edwards on to guide REIA through this transition period.

“Maria is a career real estate practitioner across rentals, sales and business development as well as social and affordable housing that has led REIACT calmly and capably,” Ms Pilkington said.

“She has in her short time at REIACT significantly expanded the REIACT membership and delivered a range of commercial outcomes with her vast business development expertise.

“The Board of REIA are confident Maria will bring the leadership to members and the continuity to the organisation that we need.”

REIA and REIACT have been co-located at the redeveloped Real Estate House in Deakin, Canberra since March 2024 and have a range of ongoing collaborations including the inaugural auctioneering partnership with Expression Australia.

A nationwide recruitment process is currently underway with HAYS appointed as the recruitment advisor for the permanent appointment of REIA’s next CEO.
