LSU struck gold on the recruiting trail in the Sunshine State on Wednesday, picking up a commitment from five-star defensive back DJ Pickett.

The 6-foot-4, 178-pound Pickett, who plays at Zephyrhills High School about 30 miles northeast of Tampa, chose the Tigers over Miami and Oregon. He is ranked No. 6 overall and the No. 2 cornerback in the Class of 2025 in the 247Sports Composite. He is also the top-ranked player in the state and the third five-star prospect in LSU’s class, joining quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Harlem Berry.

The Tigers’ class is ranked No. 4 nationally behind Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State. All but two of their 17 commitments are blue-chip prospects.
