More than four hours until kick-off, yet Wembley Way is already filling up, and the vast majority of early arrivals are Newcastle United fans.

After the scenes at Covent Garden last night — where tens of thousands of Geordies descended upon the tourist hotspot with cans, flares and songs — plenty of black-and-white-striped shirts are already here.

Could this really be the day that 70 years of domestic hurt comes to an end? That constant, interminable wait for silverware may finally be over come 7pm tonight.

It is hard to even visualise what that may look like, or fully contemplate that eventuality. But maybe, just maybe, this is Newcastle United’s time…
