The Lions said the NFL and NFL Players Association contacted them Friday evening about a player work rule violation under the collective bargaining agreement during the week of May 27. As a result, the team will lose its upcoming OTA session.
“We take very seriously the rules set forth within the NFL’s Offseason Program and have worked to conduct our practices accordingly,” the Lions said in a statement. “We will continue to be vigilant with our practices moving forward.”

The collective bargaining agreement bars live contact during OTAs. Teams have been fined or forced to forfeit OTAs in recent years for various violations, such as when the New England Patriots were docked two sessions due to an off-field violation in2023.
The Lions held OTA sessions from May 21 to 23 and May 29 to 31 before their final workouts Monday through Wednesday. Now, they will resume Tuesday.
The OTAs during the week of May 27 were not open to the media.
