While Gilmore Girls is such a beloved show in the hearts of many, fans might not see a spinoff show any time soon.

In an interview with E! News, Scott Patterson, who played the cranky yet lovable Luke on Gilmore Girls, explained why he felt a spinoff wouldn’t work.

“I brought this up to Peter Roth [Warner Bros] once advocating for my own spinoff and he told me something steeped in TV history wisdom,” Patterson explained. “He said, ‘Scott, people would miss the other characters so much, because the show is so chock full of rich, wonderful characters.’”

Patterson went on to say that he appreciated Roth’s advice, noting, “And boy was that a smart thing to say because he nailed it.”

Wherever they lead, these former costars will follow! Though it’s been nearly 15 years since Gilmore Girls finished its initial run, the WB stars have remained just as tight as their characters. Gilmore Girls originally ran for seven seasons on The WB (and later The CW) between 2000 and 2007. After the conclusion of its final season, the […]

Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai Gilamore on the hit show, then pitched the one spinoff idea she felt could work.

“You could do the high school Lorelai,” she said, suggesting that the plot goes backwards in time.

“We’re talking about this as if it’s like The Hobbit or something, which I’m not sure it is,” said Graham. “But I think the way other universes have dealt with that question is just going back or forward.”

Graham went on to work out some foreseeable issues with creating that spinoff idea, saying, “Then you have the problem of you got to cast young Babette and younger Miss Patty, so I don’t know.”

Parenthood made a family out of its cast — both on screen and off. The NBC drama ran for six seasons from March 2010 to January 2015 and became known as a tearjerker for its story lines on cancer, marriage, bullying and, of course, parenting.  Peter Krause (Adam Braverman), Lauren Graham (Sarah Braverman), Dax Shepard […]

Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons between the years 2000 and 2007. It followed the heartwarming adventures of Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory (played by Alexis Bledel), living in the idyllic town of Stars Hollow.

In 2016, a mini-series called Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life was released on Netflix, featuring four episodes chronicling all four seasons.

In the interview, Graham explained that there would need to be a creative impetus to make another chapter in the Gilmore Girls universe.

“I think at this point it’s the same what it would take that got us back together last time,” said Graham, “which that it is a creative step forward, and that it would be giving fans what they want while honoring what we did already.”

Most recently, Graham and Patterson’s characters were reunited in a Walmart commercial, which showed fans what their life looked like post-Gilmore Girls.

The commercial showed Lorelai going to Luke’s Diner, and asking for her “coffee coffee coffee.”

Luke brings out a Walmart box and Lorelai opens it to find a Keurig.

“You shouldn’t have!” she exclaims, to which he responds, “I had to, you’re drinking me out of business.”
