The New York Knicks are nearing a trade for Karl-Anthony Towns, league sources tell The Athletic. The Knicks will send a package back to the Minnesota Timberwolves centered around Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.
Towns, 28, has spent all nine years of his career with the Timberwolves since being drafted No. 1 in the 2015 NBA Draft.
The four-time All-Star averaged 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 2023-24, returning to All-Star form after missing much of the 2022-23 season with injury.

The Knicks are looking to build upon their 50-win season and the addition of Towns in the middle will couple with the arrival of star wing Mikal Bridges, who New York acquired in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets in July.
The Timberwolves are coming off a 56-win season in which they advanced to the Western Conference Finals behind the ascendent play of Anthony Edwards. The additions of Randle, a three-time All-Star, and DiVincenzo, who shot 40.1 percent from 3 last year, will give the team crucial depth.
