PITTSFORD, N.Y. — For the first time since suffering cardiac arrest in the summer of 2022, Bills former co-owner Kim Pegula made a public appearance with the team at the end of Friday’s training camp practice. Her husband and Bills owner Terry Pegula walked alongside Kim and led her from the family vehicle parked a few feet from an end zone to coach Sean McDermott and the huddled-up Bills roster.

After the team broke down the huddle, Kim Pegula returned to the vehicle, and it drove away moments later. Kim has been at each of the first three practices this summer parked in the same vehicle by the field, though this was the first time she exited the SUV. She was first seen during the team’s 2023 training camp during a handful of practices, parked alongside the field in the same spot.

Months after the cardiac arrest in 2022, the family revealed in early 2023 that Kim was dealing with expressive aphasia. The Athletic’s Tim Graham uncovered this May that Terry Pegula filed to have his wife ruled incapacitated and to be made her guardian in February of 2023. That March, a judge named Terry Pegula the “plenary guardian” of Kim, to which many of her assets were placed in a trust with Terry as one of the co-trustees.

Once the team president of the Bills, Kim Pegula no longer holds that title but is still listed on the team’s media guide as an owner. In her official bio with the team, it says the cardiac arrest “has affected her everyday life and is currently undergoing long-term physical and occupational therapy.”
