Ken Dorsey is expected to join the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer as the team’s pass game specialist, according to multiple reports. NFL Network first reported the news Monday.

Dorsey brings plenty of experience to the role, with 11 seasons as an assistant coach. Last month, Klayton Adams was hired to serve as the team’s offensive coordinator, but Schottenheimer will be the play caller.

In 2024, Dorsey was the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, but he was dismissed following the team’s 3-14 season. Last season, Cleveland scored the fewest points in the league (258) and started four quarterbacks with Deshaun Watson suffering a season-ending ruptured Achilles tendon in Week 7. Dorsey took over the play-calling duties from coach Kevin Stefanski in Week 8.

Prior to that, Dorsey spent five seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2019-23) and played a role in the development of quarterback Josh Allen. In his first three years with the team, he was the quarterbacks coach — later adding passing game coordinator to his title in 2021. Upon Brian Daboll’s departure for the New York Giants’ head coaching position, Dorsey was promoted to offensive coordinator. He was dismissed just past the midway point of the 2023 season and replaced by Joe Brady.

Additionally, Dorsey spent five seasons as the quarterbacks coach for the Carolina Panthers (2013-17) and that stint include the team’s appearance in Super Bowl 50. He also worked for two seasons as a pro scout for the team.
