Another day in Washington D.C., another fawning interview of Vice President Kamala Harris by a starstruck liberal journalist. This time it was Katie Couric giggling away with the VP and making excuses for her poor performance, but earlier in the week it was CNN’s Laura Coates who was barely able to hold back the tears, she was so in awe of Kamala’s glow.

Couric started off the chat on her show Next Question by having a giggle-fest over their respective height listings on Wikipedia:

Harris of course pulled the “we’re victims” card, cackling, “They just want to make us smaller in every way!”

Now I have no problem with an interviewer being friendly and polite to an interview subject, but palling around and giggling like schoolgirls seems unprofessional to me. You’re interviewing the woman who holds the second most powerful position in the U.S. government; a formal interview should be treated as such. It felt more like a fan meeting Taylor Swift than it did a serious discussion.

When it got down to policy, things got no better, as Couris blatantly excused the VP for her poor record:

I want to talk to you about immigration, because I think nearly everyone agrees that the system is broken, and that we need comprehensive immigration reform. Early on, I know you were tasked with understanding the root causes of the immigration crisis, but you’re not in charge of the border, which I think is important to point out.

Wait… Wasn’t Kamala Harris named border czar?

Kamala unsurprisingly tried to dump the border issues at the feet of Republicans, saying that “the first bill that we offered was a bill to fix the immigration system.” Yes, and you had a Democrat House and Senate and a Dem in the Oval Office, so how is it the Republicans’ fault?

Meanwhile, even as they’re having this discussion, the Biden administration is busy threatening Texas for actually trying to do something about the situation.

Harris went on to further distance herself and Biden from the disaster at the border, saying people were playing politics with it. This despite the reality that President Biden introduced sweeping policy changes to the border — including ending construction of the wall — in his first week in office and since then has simply refused to enforce laws that are already on the books. Harris would rather not talk about that:

The situation is such that the system is broken and it needs to be fixed. And we have offered a solution and real leaders ought to lead on this, meaning not play politics with it, but work with us to fix the problem.

Here was the kicker though: “We want to fix it, and they want to run on it.” Yeah, right, Madam Vice President. You want to fix it, but you’ve absolutely nothing to get that accomplished.

The only reason they’re even willing to talk about the subject is that it’s an election year, and they’ve seen the polls showing that it’s a top issue for voters. Should the unfortunate happen and the Biden-Harris team win the ’24 election, they will go right back to pretending that the border doesn’t exist.
