Princess Kate Middleton honored late cancer patient Liz Hatton, whom the royal first met in October last year.
“Celebrating the strength and creativity of Liz and Vicky Hatton,” Kate, 43, wrote via X on Saturday, March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day. “It was an honour meeting them both in Windsor in October. Liz’s memory lives on in Vicky’s unwavering resilience. Thank you for such a moving moment #IWD2025.”
Both Kate and husband Prince William included Hatton, a photographer, on their list of “brilliant women who have inspired us over the last 12 months,” which was shared via X on Saturday.
Kate had previously met Hatton at Windsor Castle in October 2024 during an investiture ceremony hosted by William, 42. While there, Hatton snapped photos of the honorees and met with both William and Kate after the event.
“A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today,” the couple wrote via X at the time, alongside a photo of Kate embracing Hatton, as well as posing with her family. “A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. W&C.”
The October 2024 event was Kate’s first official appearance as a senior working royal since she completed her chemotherapy treatment.
Middleton was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer early in 2024, limiting all public engagements while she underwent a preventative round of chemo. She finished her treatment in September 2024.
“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” Kate said in a video statement at the time. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

Will and Kate share three children — sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6, and daughter Princess Charlotte, 9 — all of whom appeared in the video statement, which was shared via social media.
“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,” Kate’s statement continued.
“This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted,” she added. “Of simply loving and being loved.”
