Kamala Harris has now been in the presidential race for over a month. During that time she has done no interviews and press conferences, instead relying on anonymous aides to leak her supposed positions to the press.

Time is now running out on her game of hide-and-seek. Speaking to the press in early August, Harris told reporters that she would do a sit-down interview “before the end of the month.” With that deadline fast approaching, it’s becoming more and more obvious she’s terrified to follow through.

According to Politico, the vice president has her handlers using a new strategy to see who she’ll finally talk to.

That’s four days from now, on Saturday. Of course, “scheduled” doesn’t mean the interview will happen by then. But with the Democratic nominee generally hitting all her marks since entering the race, her scripted, light-on-policy candidacy has become an issue. And questions about when, where and with whom Harris will finally sit down are dominating the inside conversation this week. (DONALD TRUMP has stepped up the pace of his interviews, partially to highlight the gap.)

Harris campaign staff have been asking reporters who they think she should talk to. Behind the scenes, TV producers from big name anchors have been calling the campaign to pitch their talent as the person she has to do it with.

Pathetic doesn’t even begin to describe this. We are talking about the current vice president of the United States. This is someone who has a record a mile long and years in the public eye. It should not be difficult for her to sit down with multiple interviewers at this point. That’s especially true given anyone she chooses will shower here with softballs.

She’s running scared, trying to prime the pump to get the absolute easiest interview possible. By treating this like some major national event and essentially starting a bidding war for the interview, already biased media outlets will feel even more pressure to go easy on her. At this point, you can expect this interview to be questions about what kind of ice cream she likes and how supposedly historic her candidacy is. It’s going to be an absolute joke led by an absolute joke of a journalist.

Further, as Politico notes above, she left herself wiggle room in her commitment to sit for an interview by the end of the month. She could end up scheduling it for mid-September and claim that’s what she meant all along as long as it’s on the books before the end of August.

Does any of this strike you as a show of confidence? We keep being told Harris’ campaign is going so incredibly well that she’s now coasting to victory. Yet, with over two months left until election day, she’s twisting in the wind a bit, doing her best to avoid fulfilling even the most basic obligations of a candidate.

I’d suggest there’s more chaos inside the Harris campaign than anyone wants to admit. This has a “dog caught the car” feeling to it. She successfully pushed Joe Biden out in unprecedented fashion, but being the nominee is more than teleprompter speeches. That reality is facing Harris head-on, and she’s trembling in response.
