Let’s get the primary point out of the way up front: Kamala Harris is so far in over her head that she can no longer see the surface. To any objective observer, it has been abundantly clear that she doesn’t know what she’s doing. She’s lazy, ill-informed, and unsuited to speaking extemporaneously. She’s just not good at the business of heading up a political campaign. What’s more, she would be an absolute disaster as president of the United States; her presence in the Oval Office would embolden America’s adversaries, knowing that the sitting POTUS is – unbelievably – even weaker and more feckless than Joe Biden.
That’s why Kamala Harris has avoided any authentic interviews or press conferences – and, no, the pre-recorded, edited tongue bath from CNN’s Dana Bash where Kamala brought along her emotional support running mate doesn’t count. What’s more, Kamala and her campaign staff know it.
Vice President Kamala Harris has gone 51 days as the presumptive, and now, official Democratic nominee for president without holding an official press conference.
Now, she faces the biggest test of her candidacy so far: a debate with former President Trump.
Under pressure to sit down for a substantive interview after weeks of stonewalling, Harris finally ended her interview drought last month when she was joined by running mate Tim Walz for a pre-taped piece with CNN’s Dana Bash last Thursday in Georgia that was a far cry from a traditional press conference.
“Anyone who wants to lead the free world should be able to handle questions from the press,” conservative influencer Tim Young told Fox News Digital. “If Kamala can’t handle real questions from the press, she absolutely can’t handle negotiations with foreign leaders.”
Let’s be real: Whatever that spectacle with Dana Bash was, it wasn’t an interview. It was a campaign ad. Harris has not ended her interview drought, and she likely won’t. She simply can’t be exposed to unscripted events, and her campaign staff, incompetent as they seem to be on their own, know this.

Her campaigns’ tactics in keeping Harris away from any unscripted events are increasingly obvious to those with eyes to see.
Conservative Radio Libre host Jorge Bonilla feels Harris should do a press conference but said it’s almost “irrelevant” because she continues to get a pass.
“She is highly unlikely to do a press conference because the media have enabled and encouraged her ‘plexiglass basement’ strategy, wherein she preserves the illusion of being out there while remaining wholly inaccessible to the press and therefore unaccountable,” Bonilla told Fox News Digital.
So why then does the election still look so close? Well, here’s why and I’m going to tell you.
It’s in part because of the legacy media, which still owns the lion’s share of the national media market. With the legacy media, Kamala Harris still gets a pass, she always has gotten a pass, and she always will get a pass. The legacy media is a compliant partner to the Democratic Party and has been since the days of Reagan – at least. It’s also in part because about a third of the population will vote for a dead woodchuck if it has a “D” following its name, and that’s a fact of electoral politics; to be fair, a similar percentage on the right will do the same.
Don’t look to see Kamala Harris holding any unscripted press conferences. If Joe Biden’s campaign and presidency have taught us anything, it is that a national political party can run a candidate, get them elected, and run them through a term in office when that candidate is blatantly incapable, and now the Harris campaign is looking to repeat that miracle – part of which is accomplished by not letting the candidate off the leash.
In short, Kamala Harris is the very epitome of the tortoise on a fencepost. When you see one, you immediately know three things: It doesn’t belong up there, it didn’t get up there by itself, and it’s only a matter of time before someone knocks the stupid thing off.
