USMNT forward Tim Weah faces a period on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury during Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Como on Monday evening.

The 24-year-old sustained the injury in the build-up to his goal in first-half stoppage time.

The goal — his first for the club since signing from Lille last summer — doubled Juventus’ lead after Samuel Nbangula had opened the scoring for the hosts.

He was subsequently substituted at the interval and replaced by Nicola Savona.

Juventus said on Tuesday that the American suffered a low-grade hamstring of the right leg. He will be assessed again in 10 days when a more accurate timeframe on his recovery will be provided.

Defender Andrea Cambiasso netted a third goal in stoppage time to ensure new head coach Thiago Motta’s reign as Juventus head coach got off to a winning start.

Juventus are next in action at Verona on Monday night.

Weah joined Juve from Lille last summer. He made 30 Serie A appearances during his debut campaign in Italy, registering one assist.

He previously won the Ligue 1 title with the club in 2021.

The attacker has scored six goals in 41 appearances for his country. His participation in USMNT’s Copa America was limited to just two games after he was sent off 18 minutes into their 2-1 defeat to Panama.

He was suspended for the final group-stage game as the hosts were eliminated following a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay.
