Jets guard John Simpson leads NFL players in performance-based pay from 2023 season

New York Jets guard John Simpson led all players last season with nearly $975,000 in performance-based pay, the NFL announced Monday.

The performance-based pay program compensates all players based on their playing time and salary levels, and players are set to receive $393.8 million from the program for 2023.

Simpson spent last season with the Ravens and was on the field for all but seven of Baltimore’s offensive plays. The $974,613 he’s set to receive will nearly double his 2023 salary, according to the NFL.

The Las Vegas Raiders selected Simpson in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Clemson. He spent three seasons with the Raiders where he played in 35 games (21 starts) before signing a one-year deal with the Ravens in 2023.

San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Brock Purdy also benefited from the program and will receive $739,795 in performance-based pay.
