Jessica Alba has addressed her recent decision to separate from husband Cash Warren after 16 years of marriage.

“I’ve been on a journey of self-realization and transformation for years — both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” Alba, 43, wrote in a Thursday, January 16, Instagram statement. “I’m proud of how we’ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

She added, “We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy ay this time.”

Alba and Warren, 45, share three children: Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 6.

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have been vocal about their efforts to keep the spark in their relationship alive while raising three children. The couple met while working on 2004’s Fantastic Four, which Alba starred in as Susan Storm and Warren was a production assistant. After dating for nearly four years, the duo tied the […]

News broke on January 8, that Alba and Warren were preparing to file for divorce. A source later told Us Weekly that Alba and Warren faced “trust issues” and “many ups and downs.”

“They have tried therapy and have worked out past issues over the years,” the insider told Us. “There were trust issues in the past which led to many arguments. … The marriage ran its course. Their communication hadn’t been great.”

A second source, meanwhile, told Us that Alba and Warren planned to formally file for divorce “soon.”

“Cash has been slowly moving things out of their house but since the fires, they have been spending more time under one roof as a family,” the second insider added. “They are being there for each other right now as it is a very stressful time.”

Alba and Warren had been together for over two decades, meeting on the set of The Fantastic Four in 2004. They wed four years later amid Alba’s pregnancy with eldest daughter Honor.

“Whenever I doubt myself for a second, he’s the first one to come up and say, ‘You can do this, I believe in you,’” Alba later told Us in 2011. “I don’t know what I’d do without him there. And he’s so good with the kids. We’re really happy.”

Over the years, however, Alba and Warren faced their ups and downs as a couple.

“It’s all rosy for two and a half years. But then after that, you become roommates,” Alba said with a laugh during a July 2021 appearance on Katherine Schwarzenegger’s “Before, During and After Baby” social media show. “You’re just going through the motions. You have the responsibilities; it’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes, right?”

She added, “We have, like, obviously the friendship, the comfort of, like, ‘You’re not going anywhere,’ and so sometimes you don’t treat those people the best, right?’ You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings. So that is something that I think is a constant one to work on.”

At the time, Alba admitted that Warren sometimes received “the short end of the stick” when it came to her time, which they were trying to circumvent.

“The second one of you is checked out then it’s a one-sided relationship,” Alba said. “Because you’re not always gonna be on the same page, and you’re not always gonna grow at the same pace.”

Last year, Warren offered Us insight into their relationship.

“Unplugging is big. We love taking walks. We love chatting. We love eating good food together. We have so many of the same interests that we enjoy,” he told Us exclusively in July 2024. “We’re also still willing to participate. Jessica is on an awesome spiritual journey right now. I’ll do sound baths with her. I’ll learn about crystals. I’ll get my charts read. I’ll learn about it alongside her and she’s always opening me up to new things.”
