Jason Kelce is celebrating a bittersweet Super Bowl victory for his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 37-year-old was at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9, when the Eagles defeated his brother, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. Following the big game, Jason said in a lengthy X post that he had conflicting emotions over the Eagles’ victory.
“Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles, my former teammates, and friends on being SB LIX Champions!!” Jason began on Tuesday, February 11.
“That game was odd for me to watch if I’m being completely honest,” Jason continued. “I knew it was going to be mixed emotions before, during, and after, and I now know what my parents had to deal with two years ago. On one hand, I wanted what is best for my brother, and to see his success. And on the other hand, there are so many people, teammates, and coaches, in the Philadelphia Eagles organization that I care deeply about, Many of whom I owe my own success to throughout my career.”
Jason went on to praise the Eagles on their 40-22 victory over the Chiefs. “I am very proud for Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni, and this entire team,” he wrote. “They have persevered greatly, answered their critics amazingly, and proved themselves to be undoubtedly the best team this season. It is extremely difficult for a team in the NFL to have enough talent, coaching, fortune, and character to win a Super Bowl. The character and swagger of this Eagles team was something truly special to behold. A true representation of the toughness and grit that makes Philadelphia what it is. Well done fellas, well f—ing done.”
However, Jason noted that the victory was bittersweet because it came at the expense of Travis, 35.
“As for my brother, There isn’t a person I love or care about more,” Jason wrote. “It has been tough to process these feelings, of course, I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity. He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past. I know right now they are still thinking of last night and the shortcomings in the last game, But in time that will fade, and the greatness they have exhibited as a group will remain as one of the most dominant eras of football ever.”
“Man, I love this sport, the people that play it, and the fans that enjoy it. Nothing else like it. Congratulations Philadelphia, I look forward to the speeches and celebrations that will happen in the coming days,” Jason concluded his post. “I mean who doesn’t love a parade! In the words of Chase Utley ‘World F—ing Champs’, and to all the haters out there, remember what my man Jay Ajayi said ‘F–k Em’ … Go Birds.”
Jason previously admitted to feeling mixed emotions before the Super Bowl, revealing last month that he couldn’t bring himself to wear Chiefs colors despite his family connection.
“Obviously, you’re my brother. I’ll always root for my brother. That’s the reality of it,” he told Travis on an episode of their “New Heights” podcast. “Even though I’m decked out in Eagles gear [at the moment], I’m always going to root for Travis.”
On the other hand, Jason said the Eagles organization still feels like his “extended family” following his 2024 retirement. (Jason spent his entire 13-year career with the Eagles, previously winning the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl title in 2018. The Eagles lost to the Chiefs at the 2023 Super Bowl.)
“No matter what on game day, I’m going to be happy for one of those sides and I’m going to be sad for the other side,” Jason said in January. “I would be lying if I said I don’t want the Eagles to win. You know what I mean? I want them to, but I also want Travis Kelce to win. So, that’s a long-winded way of saying I just want to see a good football game, and whoever wins, I’m going to be happy for that guy.”
Travis said at the time that he felt “amazing” going into Super Bowl LIX, claiming that the team’s possible three-peat wasn’t “mentioned one time outside of being asked about it in the media.”

The Chiefs ultimately didn’t make history with a third consecutive Super Bowl victory. Sunday’s blowout was Travis’ worst performance in a Super Bowl to date. The tight end had only four catches for 39 yards.
“Hats off to the Eagles, man. They got after us. All three phases,” Travis told reporters after the game. “[We] couldn’t get it going offensively. They just got after us on all three phases, and on top of that, turnovers, penalties, playing behind the sticks on offense … dropped passes, not taking advantage of the play call and executing them. There’s a lot that goes into it. You don’t lose like that without everything going bad.”
Travis acknowledged that his team didn’t play “that bad all year,” adding, “[We] just couldn’t find that spark, couldn’t find that momentum.”
Jason previously joked about what the losing team does after the Super Bowl, having experienced defeat before.
“They already have the parties set up in advance, so you still have the party,” he said on “New Heights” earlier this month. “It’s just the saddest party you’ve ever been to. Picture a birthday party combined with a funeral, and that’s what a Super Bowl losing party feels like.”
