Greetings all and welcome to our live coverage of today’s 2025 Australian Open men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. As the top two seeds in this tournament and current top two world men’s players, Sinner and Zverev should have an instant classic for us in store.

It’s a familiar spot for Sinner. The 23-year-old Italian is aiming to defend the 2024 Australian Open win that gave him his first Grand Slam title and helped propel him to the world No. 1 ranking.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Zverev is looking for his first Grand Slam title in his third appearance in a final. He lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the 2024 French Open final and Dominic Thiem in the 2020 U.S. Open final — and squandered leads in both of those matches.

Despite being ranked No. 2 both in this tournament and in the world, the German will surely be the underdog in this one as well against another dominant heavyweight in Sinner.

Join us as we take you through all the action as the 2025 year of men’s tennis starts in earnest down under! And remember to chime in by emailing livebloguk@theathletic.com
