Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Joshua Allen announced on Tuesday heโ€™d changed his last name to Hines-Allen.

The star pass rusher will now share the last name of his sister WNBA Champion Myisha Hines-Allen.

Hines-Allen agreed to a five-year, $150 million contract with $88 million guaranteed, in April.

Jacksonville selected Hines-Allen with the seventh pick of the 2019 NFL Draft after a standout senior season at Kentucky. He was named to the Pro Bowl as a rookie after amassing 10 1/2 sacks, and he rose to top-of-the-league status in 2023. He tallied 17 1/2 sacks last year to set a franchise record and tie for second most in the league with the Cincinnati Bengalsโ€™ Trey Hendrickson.

In addition to a career-high in sacks, Hines-Allen also tallied one interception, two forced fumbles, 17 tackles for loss and 33 quarterback hits. He earned his second Pro Bowl invite in January.

Hines-Allen also holds the distinction of being the first player to sack a player with the same name. During the 2021 season, the Jaguarsโ€™ pass rusher was able to get ahold of the Billsโ€™ quarterback who at the time shared his namesake late in the second quarter of a 9-6 win against Buffalo.
