Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) should be careful what he wishes for.

In a brief clip captured on Friday by Townhall, Jeffries makes what sure sounds like a threat of political violence.

Jeffries says:

We are gonna fight it (the Trump agenda) legislatively, we are gonna fight it in the courts, and (pause) we are gonna fight it in the streets.

This is the same Hakeem Jeffries who posted this on X:

Well, weakness and insecurity it is, then; not that Democrats being hypocrites should come as any surprise. Why is it that Democrats are constantly calling for what they accuse Republicans of doing? Why is it always the left that takes to the streets, looting and burning? Why, in the summer of 2020, just as an example, was it the left that exploded when our cities burned, when innocent citizens’ homes and businesses were burned and looted?

Do they want that again now? Hakeem Jeffries may well (and probably will) claim that he is talking about peaceful protest, and he may genuinely mean that; we have no way of knowing. But he should be cautious of that raw, red time when words give way to actions. He should also caution some of his colleagues to mind their rhetoric.

There were other interesting reactions on X:

This wouldn’t end well for anyone involved.

Look, Hakeem Jeffries may have meant to call for peaceful protests. I can’t read his mind. But the “shoe on the other foot” rule must be applied here; if a Republican politician said these exact words, in the exact same way, he or she would have been excoriated by Democrats and the legacy media (but I repeat myself.) And what Jeffries may have said isn’t so much the point as to how many of the useful idiots on the left will assume. The reelection of Donald Trump has them unhinged, and it’s hard to predict what may happen this summer when the riot season starts.

If Democrats want to go down this road, if they really want to provoke political violence, as some among them (Maxine Waters, I’m looking at you) have been trying for years, they will find that it won’t work out at all the way they think. I’ve always been fond of the old saying, “The strength of the wolf lies not in its fangs, but in its pack,” and Hakeem Jeffries is talking about leading a gang of chihuahuas to attack that pack of wolves.

That kind of thing never ends well for the chihuahuas.
