Interstates and major highways are largely open Friday morning despite scattered icy spots on area roads.
The only major road closure Friday morning in the Pensacola area was the Interstate 110 overpass in downtown Pensacola. All southbound traffic must get off the interstate at Maxwell Street.
The Florida Department of Transportation closed Interstate 10 in Walton County between mile markers 70 and 85 because of ice. The entire interstate had reopened Thursday night at 7 p.m., but overnight ice refreezing forced the closure Friday morning.
Ice remains an issue on several area roads, causing traffic delays on Mobile Highway in the Beulah area and on U.S. 98 in southwest Escambia County.
Ice issues should largely disappear on Friday as temperatures reach 50 degrees in Pensacola. Temperatures will reach below-freezing late Friday or early Saturday morning, again with a forecast low of 30 degrees. After that, temperatures will not reach the freezing point again for at least the next seven days.
