In this episode of “Good for Me but Not for Thee”…
Cast your mind back to the time when residents of the wealthy enclave island of Martha’s Vineyard vociferously defended illegal aliens and their “right” to be in America. Then, in 2022, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) ingeniously flew illegals to the island. In a word, all snobbish hell broke loose.
Vineyard officials begged for federal assistance — after just 50 illegals arrived on their little Shangri-La.
Martha’s Vineyard officials are begging for federal assistance over what they are calling a “humanitarian crisis” after just 50 illegal aliens were flown into the elite island where the nation’s wealthiest residents vacation. https://t.co/fEQVRi6dQS

The illegals were promptly shipped off the island to a military base.
Hypocrisy to the max? Not quite. But what follows is.
Now that President Donald Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan are rapidly following through on their pledge to round up “the worst of the worst” of illegal aliens, put them on military aircraft, and ship them back to their home countries, Vineyard residents are once again throwing a snit fit about the so-called “humanitarian crisis,” and laughably vowing to “resist.”
Residents of the wealthy, liberal enclave … defended illegal aliens as the Trump administration has ramped up deportations.
Several older residents of Martha’s Vineyard reportedly attended a rally, with some people holding signs that read, “I pledge to resist,” and “Protect people, resist hate,” according to the MV Times.
[…]
One rallygoer, Marina Kaufman told the outlet that they “have to protect” illegal aliens, citing how “they are part of the workforce of the Vineyard.”
“We have to protect these people because they are part of the workforce of the Vineyard,” Kaufman said. “And they’re human beings. They have children in schools, they’re scared. And it breaks my heart, it really does.”
Question, Ms. Kaufman.
Did it break your heart in 2022 when Vineyard residents lost their hypocritical minds and demanded that the illegals be removed, pronto? Pretty sure they were “human beings” then, as well.
Another Vineyard resident, Bill Bridwell, told the MV Times that ICE is “grabbing people in their homes and taking them” back to their home countries “where they haven’t been in years.” That got to him, Bridwell said, adding that he understood if illegals had “committed some sort of crime, they should be dealt with.” Bridwell’s claim is at direct odds with Homan’s “worst of the worst” pledge.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters last Tuesday that all illegal aliens are criminals because they illegally entered the United States after a reporter asked, “How many have a criminal record versus those who are just in the country illegally?”
Leavitt responded:
All of them because they illegally broke our nation’s laws, and therefore, they are criminals, as far as this administration goes. I know the last administration didn’t see it that way, so it’s a big culture shift in our nation to view someone who breaks our immigration laws as a criminal, but that’s exactly what they are.
As I understand it, Leavitt’s claim may require some added context.
“Undocumented” presence in the United States is only criminally punishable if it occurs after an individual was previously formally removed from the United States and then returned without permission, but the important part is that technicality, if you will, it doesn’t preclude the federal government from shipping “undocumented” aliens out of the country.
And, of course, if aliens commit crimes while in the U.S., it’s game on.
Meanwhile, I can’t wait not to visit Martha’s Vineyard.
