HURLBURT FIELD — Drone flying seems to be a problem near Hurlburt Field.
On Tuesday, the 1st Special Operations Wing said in a news release that operating an unmanned aircraft system or “drones” within five miles of Hurlburt Field is illegal for flight safety reasons.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Hurlburt Field would have security-sensitive airspace restrictions, which prohibit drones from flying over designated national security facilities.
Operations are prohibited from the ground up to 400 feet above ground level and apply to all types and purposes of drone-flight operations.

Hurlburt Field is considered controlled airspace, and approval will not be granted for drone enthusiasts.
