John Hinckley Jr., the man who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981, has been so inundated with requests to do something similar to Donald Trump that he felt compelled to address the situation on social media.

How far gone do you have to be to try and enlist a former attempted assassin to take out the new President-elect — and he’s telling you to get a grip? Hinckley’s comments indicate enough of an onslaught of requests that it needed to be mentioned.

And it’s incredibly troublesome considering Democrat rhetoric over the past several months has already led to two attempts on Trump’s life — one of which came within a centimeter of killing him and plunging the nation into irreparable chaos.

“I’m a man of peace now!” Hinckley insisted. “Please stop with all the negative comments!”

NBC 4 in Columbus reports that Hinckley’s plea is in response “to messages on social media calling for him to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump.”

Making matters worse is that some social media users who saw his plea for peace kept egging him on. Most of them focused on what he claims was the motivation to shoot Reagan — his obsession with impressing actress Jodie Foster.

“You know what Jodie Foster would think is REALLY impressive?” one man writes, adding a GIF of Colin Jost saying, “Just saying.”

Another chides, “Oh I’m sorry, it’s just I didn’t think you were a QUITTER is all…. Jodie Foster will not be impressed.”

“Just one last job, John,” one person poked, according to NBC 4.

While none of these absurd responses come from accounts with large followings on X, Hinckley must have been bombarded with enough requests that he felt it necessary to make a statement.

Hinckley was charged with the attempted assassination of Reagan but was later found not guilty by reason of insanity, leading to his confinement in psychiatric institutions for over three decades. After years of treatment and proving his mental stability, he was granted unconditional release from court oversight in 2022.

He is currently pursuing a career in music.

He has previously responded to news of the attempt on Trump’s life, writing, “Violence is not the way to go. Give peace a chance.”

While most would be hoping for a post-election de-escalation of the violent rhetoric, Hinckley at least, seems to be indicating the crazies are still lurking out there.

With Democrats relentlessly bashing Trump as a dictator representing the end of democracy and equating him to Hitler, who killed millions upon millions, it doesn’t seem far-fetched that somebody might want to stop him from taking office in January.

This past Election Day, the Department of Justice (DOJ) charged a Michigan man for threatening to kill Christian conservatives and Trump himself if he won the election.

He did. The response from the left since has been nothing short of unhinged lunacy. We can only pray it doesn’t get any worse.
