ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A police pursuit involving two vehicles ended with a collision near I-270 and I-44 on Wednesday afternoon. Four suspects have been arrested, while one remains on the run.
Investigators tell FOX 2 that the pursuit was part of a Homeland Security task force operation.
Three suspects in one vehicle have since been taken into custody. A driver in a second pursued vehicle crashed nearby. One of the two suspects in that second vehicle were taken into custody, while the other had escaped.
As a precaution, the Lindbergh School District delayed dismissing students as police searched the woods nearby. Schools held students until 3 p.m. when police confirmed the area was secure.
“Was really assuring that we knew (police) were out here,” nearby resident Barb Hartley said. “They were right there at my house, so I knew we were going to be safe, but they really had the manpower out to find this guy.”
Sunset Hills Police located the fugitive just before 4 p.m. As of Wednesday night, all suspects are now in custody.
ICE is now handling the investigation, according to police.
