Parts of Lafayette are under a flash flood warning, and heavy rain has made parts of the city impassable.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, Ambassador Caffery Parkway from Eraste Landry to Kaliste Saloom is impassable. Due to its length, officers say the roadway can’t be shut down, but motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Lafayette residents until 10:45 a.m. today. Showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the morning. Following the rain, the weather is expected to be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 80. The chance of precipitation is currently at 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
